OUR HISTORY

THE BEGINNING

Pastor LT Whittley and Executive Pastor, Lady Angela Whittley, along with their three sons, Dorian, Lorenzo, and Dominique, were members of Rock Temple COGIC in Clarksville, TN for seventeen years.  During those seventeen years, fifteen of them were spent as members of leadership in the local, state, and national ministries.  Pastor Whittley and his wife served faithfully where they were planted, growing and fulfilling God’s call on their lives.

Duty called and the military moved them to Fort Carson, Colorado where they also served in the eldership and as leaders at the Christian House of Prayer in Colorado Springs, CO, under the dynamic leadership of Pastor Charles Tedder and First Lady Allison Tedder.  While in Colorado Springs they matured in God even the more.  God spoke to both Pastor and Lady Whittley individually, confirming on several occasions what they both knew years prior, that God was calling them to begin the ministry.  God further instructed Pastor Whittley that they would have to return to Clarksville, TN/Fort Campbell, KY to both retire from the U.S. Army and begin the ministry.  They shared this great news with Pastor Charles and First Lady Allison, who gave them their blessing and Pastor and First Lady Whittley told them the new church name would be named Christian House of Praise of Middle Tennessee (MiT), also known as “CHOPMIT”.

On August 2, 2016 Pastor and Lady Whittley set out to establish the ministry, Christian House of Praise, fondly known to many as "CHOP".  The first church service was held at the Oak Grove Community Center and eight people were in attendance.  Since that time the ministry has grown, to include its outreach efforts which include "Share the Love Food Pantry" in partnership with Feeding America Kentucky's Heartland (FAKH) and Divine Creations Ministries, and "Natascha's Closet" Clothing Ministry named in honor of the late Missionary Delisha Natascha Thigpen Kendrick in 2018 for her faithful service to God and support to CHOP and its many outreach endeavors.  The Oak Grove Community Center served as CHOP's home until May 2020 when its doors were abruptly closed due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.   But that did not stop CHOP from continuing to serve the local and global communities naturally and spiritually.  Because of its continued faithfulness even in the pandemic, CHOP continues to thrive and grow and was able to move into its new and current location at 30 Crossland Avenue, Clarksville, TN on January 13, 2021.

All the Glory and Honor belongs to God!  Christian House of Praise remains grateful and thankful for "Our Journey" and trusts God to continue to grow and add to the church daily those who would be saved and are willing to grow up into Him in all things and go to “The Next Level”.

We currently have three services, Saturday morning prayer at 10:00 am, Sunday morning worship at 11:00 am (Live Stream at 12 noon) and Tuesday Night Teaching (TNT)/Bible Study at 6:30 pm.  Let’s go together to “The Next Level” in God and in life!
